About me

Hi there and welcome.
My name is Lisa Paul. I have spent the majority of my career caring for and supporting couples as they transition into parenthood through various different roles. Over the past 25 years I  worked in all areas of maternity including Neonatal Intensive Care/Special Care and previously run private antenatal classes for couples preparing for birth as a Calmbirth Practitioner.  This is where my love for mental health started particularly with Perinatal Mental Health.
I have previously worked with Pregnancy and Women's Health concerns using Complementary therapies such as Homeopathy and Nutrition, and I am now putting this  modality back on offer (Please go to the page on Natural Therapies for further information)

Health has many connections into it that influence how we are in the world. Generally, when we experience dis-ease, it can start with one thing which can then develop into a domino effect, where other areas become weaker and before you know it, your not feeling in such a great place and the labels are coming thick and fast.

Mental health is no exception to this and just as this is multifactorial in its development - so it is in treatment.

Mental health takes more than just medication and therapy to improve and finding those things that help you on your recovery will be different for everyone and is the reason I have added in natural therapies as an option for those interested to my "toolbox", but there are many other things I would encourage you to explore and to find what feels good for you, what helps you feel more connected with yourself and others such as Yoga, Massage, Meditation, Music, Education, Exercise, Nutrition etc.

Finding these "gems" that are just for you, will help keep you motivated and proactive in managing your health.

I have been working with mothers who have been struggling with mental health concerns such as anxiety/depression and trauma, for the past 5 years. I have invested time learning and studying various therapy methods in order to provide more choice of what we can use to work with. I am a big believer in a "one size does not fit all" approach, so your therapy is tailored to suit you and in consultation WITH you.

I work primarily from a recovery based - trauma informed approach to mental health using an integrative approach to therapy. Sessions are really shaped around what you need to be able to resume your life in a way that you feel is best for you. This can be either short term work or long term, depending on what you want to work through.
The foundations for my practice, stem from my experience as a midwife/nurse for the past 25 years and also my own experience of having a child. I know how I felt when I had my first child and the roller coaster of a ride that first 12 months can be for some, and it made me wonder if other mothers felt the same. I was not really surprised to find that low and behold - in most cases they do. This is where my passion for helping mothers was born itself. I wanted to help these mothers get through this, to provide a space for you to talk, to say things that you would never say to anyone else and to feel safe to actually express just how hard this can be without fear of judgement.

So this space is for you. I will help you to navigate your way, find your own answers to the questions that trouble you and support you where I can - just so you wont feel alone in this.
